THE WADDELL’S | FAMILY

I was lucky enough to spend some time with these very good looking young folk! Shane and Jamie are brothers and they wanted to get some photographs together with Sheridan – Shane’s wife, and Sonya – Jamie’s partner.

It was a morning shoot and a really hot day – It was only 8.30am and we were already sticky! But despite this, Shane & Sheridan & Jamie & Sonya were FABULOUS, the light was PRETTY, the location was PERFECT and the photos, well you can see for yourself.

I have a very candid and natural approach to my photographic style. I love to catch people being themselves and interacting naturally. This group are young, fun and beautiful & were totally up for my ideas & over-excitedness!  – All I could ask for as a photographer!

Whilst editing these photos, I was reminded to LIVE & LOVE & LAUGH & ENJOY & TREASURE this precious life with those in our lives.

LIFE IS A GIFT. EMBRACE IT. LIVE TODAY LIKE IT’S YOUR LAST. MAKE TIME FOR YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS. MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF. LOVE LIFE & BE THANKFUL FOR IT. WE ARE BLESSED.

Thanks guys for an amazing shoot and for reminding how precious family love is and how soothing it is to laugh! xxx

P.s Even the two “Werrington wandering” emus wanted a piece of our shoot!

THE ALLAN’S | FAMILY

I had a lovely time with this gorgeous family. Marielle & Rob are mum and dad to Kyle, David & William. They are certainly a mix of personalities as these photographs will illustrate! Though the weather was NOT on our side and the rain clouds kept drifting over us, we had a great shoot.

Not one of my sessions are the same and I always leave carrying something new, whether it be something that I’ve learnt or the emotional impact from the people that I have met. I am lucky that my job allows me to meet and mingle with all sorts of people.

This is a beautiful and strong family. Wills, the youngest, is the strongest three year old you’ll ever meet. He has a rare syndrome called Perisylvian Polymircogria, Cerbal Palsy and Epilepsy. Despite his illness, he is the most adventurous, courageous and loving little soul you could meet.

Though Wills was unsure of me at first, it didn’t take him long to warm up and to welcome me into his world. He touched my heart.

Whether he was in the embrace of mum or dad, crawling or bobbing up and down on the ground, Wills exuded this infectious energy. He has come so far in his short life and I know that he so much fight in him and so much further to go.

I had a really fun time chasing after Wills and David. David is the funniest little fellow. I don’t why, but he decided that he had to smile like a chipmunk or strike a pose in almost every photo. I hope that this four year old, brings you a smile as it has done for me.

Thank you for sharing your story with me. You have a beautiful family and I wish you all the best. xoxo

APRIL | NEWBORN

Hailey and Alistair welcomed their first baby into the world in October. Hailey and I were schoolmates in the first couple of years of our education. It has been amazing to reunite with her after so many years and it has been so special to document this very precious time in her and Alistair’s life.

Hailey and Alistair are the very proud parents of  baby April. These photographs were taken at two weeks old.

She is the prettiest and sweetest little baby with the thickest and darkest hair!

I could not have asked for a better first newborn shoot. And it is so special to me as it was for a childhood friend of mine.

Congratulations to you both as you start this new chapter!

THE SYLVESTER’S | MATERNITY

Jess and Josh are expecting their first baby this December.

This sweet little gift is known by the name “Poppy.”

I asked Jess, “Are you having a little girl and naming her Poppy?” Jess answered, “We are keeping it a surprise. We found out we were pregnant when our baby was the size of a poppy seed, and so the name “Poppy” kind of stuck.”

I loved photographing my old school mates. It really is so crazy how quick time flies by! Jess and Josh started dating in high school. They told me at our shoot that they thought it was very fitting that I take these photographs as if it weren’t for me, they might not be together and married today. I was surprised by this comment as I could not recall anything that I may have done. It turns out that  back in the day, Josh wrote Jess a love letter to declare his feelings for her and he gave it to me to pass on to her! I can’t believe that I forgot such an honour!

I am thrilled to have been a part of God’s plan in bringing these lovebirds together.

It is not long now until Jess and Josh welcome their baby into the world. Honestly, I am busting to find out if it will be a boy or a girl! I have a feeling I know, but I won’t say!

I am so excited for this beautiful couple and send them all my love and best wishes. Thanks for sharing this lovely time with me. xoxo

New Beginnings

“This is the beginning. This is the start of a new chapter. This is the planting of a seed. Bless Photography was an idea and a dream a few years ago and now it has become a reality – an amazing reality.”

For the first Blog post by Bless, I wanted to share some insight on my beginning. For those of you who know me personally, you would know that I am very organised and planned. Setting sail into the world after high school, I chose to pursue interior design at college. It was during my time as a student that I had an assignment that required that I take photographs. I was a little technology illiterate as a teen (the old soul that I am!) and I never had enough confidence in myself to really play around with a digital camera or editing software (or even computers for that matter!). Forced to face my self-doubt, I discovered an art that was made for me. I felt like my creative soul had found an overflowing spring to drink from. I was revived; rejuvenated. From this moment on, I knew that photography and I had a place together somewhere, I just wasn’t sure where.

Stuck in my plans, I continued and completed my degree and set forth to become an interior designer. Interior design was tough getting into. I began this journey as a showroom sales consultant, where I interacted with designers daily. I believed that this job was my ticket to getting my foot in the door. However, it was at this point in my life that photography knocked on my door again.

My fiancé at the time (now my husband!) was starting his videography business and often asked me if I could help assist him at various jobs. Agreeing to help out, I found myself tagging along to a few weddings. It was at one of his first weddings, my first time helping, that photography spoke to me again. I was watching the photographer at work – watching how she interacted with the newlyweds, how she used her camera, how she set up the shots. I was mesmerised by it all. At that point, all I knew was that I had to do that – that photography was for me. As exciting as this all was, I was devastated.  As I had invested years and money into interior design, I felt like I couldn’t turn my back on it. This “new” idea didn’t fit into the plans that I had designed for myself. I felt a little lost as my heart and my mind battled each other. Eventually, my heart won and it seemed as though all of a sudden my life’s path took a massive turn into a new direction where photography paved the way.

Studying photography has been one of the best decisions that I have ever made.

Through it, I have discovered a new part of myself and a passion that I haven’t felt in years. I have always been a creative soul, but I think that somewhere along my way, I lost my passion. When I found photography it was like I found a missing piece of my heart. I love the creative control that it provides. As a photographer, I am an artist and I love composing beautiful photographs for others to keep and treasure.

Okay, okay. So after all that rambling, here is my point: This is the beginning of my dream. The plans I had for myself did not match the plans that God had for me and though I resisted for a while, in the end I trusted HIM. And that’s how you can start a new beginning. Sometimes you can’t see the bigger picture, sometimes you’re afraid, sometimes you have doubt or you’re stuck in your own ways. You can start a new beginning today by stepping out in FAITH. I did, and I’ll never look back! You can do it too!

Thank you for reading my first Blog post and for your support as I start my dream.

Until next time,

Tamar xo
