It is such a blessing to photograph a couple that I went to school with that have now married and started a family of their own. When we were about fifteen or sixteen, I played messenger for Josh as he had written a letter for Jess expressing his feelings for her. Little did I know at the time, that that letter would blossom into a lifelong romance! Josh and Jess married in 2012 and introduced their son Maverick to the world nine months later. 

I have had the pleasure to photograph Josh and Jess’ maternity session, Maverick’s newborn session and to work with Jess on a number of styled shoots. I was thrilled when Jess contacted me about photographing a christmas styled family session. Jess is a stylist and a collector of antiques. She planned the shoot to include some amazing pieces including a mantel piece, a dining table, a chandelier (which hung from a tree! It was amazing!) old christmas coloured suitcases, a vintage pedal car and so much more! There were cherries and berries and fruit puddings and pine cones – a beautiful spread that Jess laid out on the table to create the feeling of christmas in an outdoor home setting. It was gorgeously done!

Nicole and Phil are unlike any other couple I’ve met. They adore each other through and through which is so evident in the way that they interact with each other. 

I was thrilled when Nicole contacted me to plan a  surprise shoot for Phil for their anniversary. I didn’t really know how a guy would take it, but Phil was very keen to get some photographs with the girl that he loves. We kept it pretty simple, but used a few props to have some fun. Props are such a great way to help you relax as it gives you something to concentrate on or to do with your hands. This couple were pretty natural and comfortable anyway, but we just had fun with it. 

 

This wedding was so special. I flew from Sydney to Darwin to capture it and it was an unforgettable experience! 

Darwin sure is hot! And there’s not too much there either, but it was the perfect location for this wedding which had many guests fly from all over the country to experience “a once in a life – all in one place”, opportunity. With the ceremony set up in the Botanic Gardens and a location shoot that was shared between a backdrop of old African Mahogany’s and the coastline – The Black Reef. And finishing off with a celebration at Crustaceans on the Wharf that overlooked the Arafura Sea. We were not short on variety and gorgeousness, that’s for sure!!!

I met Sandy and Ben at their wedding for the first time and I felt like I was a part of their family. I felt so welcome and was surrounded by beautiful, kind people. It was lovely to photograph them!

This wedding was planned to perfection. Sandy was very meticulous with her details! From balloons, a parasol, family heirlooms, akubras, hay bails, rose petals, bunting, flower arrangements, family photographs and I am probably not listing them all, there was just so much prettiness to photograph and enjoy. 

It was such an experience and I’d do it again! Thanks Sandy and Ben for giving me such an opportunity. I wish you a very happy and bright future!

This horse just so happened to pass by us at the location shoot and his owner said that we could use him. What are the chances? A white horse with a bride is magical!

This Cake Smash had a lot going for it! Not only did we have the perfect model – Joanna, but we had managed to collaborate with some other talented local businesses. Enjoying the styling talents of Jess from a mothers niche, a specially made cake from ‘Just Cake It!‘ and wearing a very cute outfit from Butterfly Garden (for Kids!), I was pretty keen to photograph this shoot!

Joanna was perfect with her gorgeous skin and hair. She loved posing, but unfortunately she really wasn’t too fussed on getting cake all over her. I mean, how could she not like that? – The things we do!! Nevertheless, we had an amazing time shooting (even in freezing blasts of wind!) and it was a pleasure to meet Joanna’s parents. They were her very own cheer squad and she did very well.

Monica and Evan are the sweetest couple ever. I had a great time photographing them. We pretty much giggled our way right through this session!

Monica & Evan met at work. Monica as a receptionist would see Evan more often than not & a relationship began to bloom from their day to day passings by which involved making each other smile. They are now inseparable and you cannot help but melt a little when you see how much they love and care for each other. 

They are both quite shy, but together we just had a good time and let things go as naturally as possible. Natural always has pleasing results!

 

 

This shoot was very special in many ways. Not only was it of my brother James and his partner Emily – the cutest couple ever, but it was their maternity shoot for their first child. I was able to collaborate with and enjoy the styling talents of the lovely Jess from a mothers niche as well as the talents of Radiant Makeup & Beauty by Emily herself.

It has a whimsy, vintage feel styled with a mix of florals, lace and some antique pieces. James & Emily were so easy to photograph as they just had fun with it. The love that they have for each other and their little baby to be is just so evident and natural. What a maternity shoot this was! And you could say that I was pretty much busting to meet my little niece or nephew!

I recently paired up with a dear friend to capture the story of a young romance in the setting of a vintage styled picnic.

Jess Sylvester & I have been friends since high school. Falling out of touch for a short while, we were rekindled by our early chapters of growing up – through our marriages & soon after, the birth of Jess’s first child. I had the pleasure of photographing Jess’s maternity & newborn shoots in the earlier days of Bless Photography. She has supported me in my journey as a photographer. 

Jess has always had a knack of making pretty crafty things & putting pieces together such as flower arrangements, centre pieces for table spreads & gifts. She has built a collection of vintage & antique pieces over the years for her own use & enjoyment. Her passion for styling & creating beautiful things has grown into a dream for her life. I approached Jess about a month ago in regards to teaming up on shoots. We agreed that Jess’s styling & my photography would work hand in hand to achieve something very special & unique. This collection of images showcases our vey first collaboration! The shoot was nothing short of perfection! Shooting in the later hours of the day – the light was soft & romantic, the location was wild & rustic, the picnic setting was so deliciously styled & the couple were so delightful!

As two artists, Jess & I were able to envision, design, feel & project a story that needs no words. It tells the story of a young love – a first love. There is a sense of endearment, adoration, playfulness…Doe eye’s & gushing gazes! It has a romantic, nostalgic & whimsical feel that reminds one of that young, carefree age…The promise of your first true love.

Aimee & Jacob were incredible. They are such a gorgeous couple with a beautiful future ahead. We couldn’t have done this without you two & are very thankful for being able to have you add to our vision & express such a tangible love!

This family brought bubbles & and an assortment of hats to have some fun & show off their personalities! I had a lot of fun with them all!

It was the perfect day to get all dolled up & to meet up with the family for a photo shoot! This shoot involved 14! It was a big one!

Penny organised a family shoot for her parents. She put a lot of thought into some props to give it a fun, vintage feel. We had a lovely afternoon in the most gorgeous orange orchard!

Adam & Rachel’s wedding day was a fun & elegant occasion! I loved to be able to share their day with them to document it. A very special addition to this wedding was the youngest member of the Bridal Party – the flower girl & Rachel & Adam’s daughter – Anna. She played her part so well considering she’s little over a year old!

This wedding day was so special – I mean, every wedding day is, But what was special about this day was that Adam & Rachel were able to become husband & wife in the company of their daughter. The love between them was reflected in the love that they have for their Anna.

I was pleased to capture some of this specialness for Adam & Rachel to reflect on & to always remember.
